Xbox has announced a bold policy to provide digital download rights to physical disc owners. 📦 Amid the hardware trend of disc drives gradually disappearing from consoles, this is a strategic move to smoothly transition existing physical buyers into its digital ecosystem.  
  
This shift fundamentally transforms gamers' **consumption habits** and the platform ecosystem. 🎮 Hardware upgrade barriers are lowered since players can maintain their existing library even when switching to discless slim or handheld consoles. Conversely, the shrinking second-hand physical market and lingering consumer anxieties over shifting from permanent ownership to rented 'access rights' remain major challenges.  
  
Ultimately, platform holders have a clear end goal: **to completely eliminate physical distribution networks and establish a permanent lock-in effect within their own digital storefronts.** 🔒 Physical discs are turning from a game-running medium into disposable keys for digital authentication.
