## ✍️ Gaming Industry Trends & Market Insights

### No Game in a $400 Package? Limited Edition Marketing Crosses the Line

A $400 limited edition that doesn't even include the game title—can you accept this? 🎮
Publishers' sly commercial tactics touting collectible value have put gamers' patience to the test.

The world-renowned blockbuster 'GTA 6' introduced a high-priced edition reaching $400, but has sparked fierce backlash after it was revealed that the base game itself is excluded. The distorted business practice of selling packaged collectibles separately from software has become blatant even at the pinnacle of AAA franchises. 📦

Coupled with the shrinking physical package market, this phenomenon distorts the very nature of **game consumption patterns**. Publishers shift the transition costs of moving to digital downloads onto gamers, encouraging double spending. As a result, consumer sentiment—which once opened wallets out of love for games—is rapidly turning into betrayal and fatigue. 📉

No matter how unrivaled an IP may be, **product planning that ignores emotional trust with consumers acts as a poison that erodes brand sustainability**. A strategy that hands over an unplayable hollow shell is not an advanced fandom business, but closer to overt exploitation. 💡

As the IP business expands, the cart has been put before the horse, prioritizing profit maximization through ancillary merchandise over the inherent value of games. Can you truly accept an expensive box of merchandise without the game as a genuine collector's edition? 🧭
